How can I select more notes than arein view... ?

In the current release you need to hold the scroll wheel and drag a box around the notes that are in view to select them. Then release the scroll wheel and drag the view to scroll other notes into view. Then hold the scroll wheel again and drag a box around the next lot of notes. These are then selected and added to the first selection.

We will implement scrolling as you drag the box in a later release.

Why do my tempo/instrument settings not have any effect... ?

If there are voice or tempo changes near the start of the MIDI file, these will make the default settings in the song setup and track setup dialogs have no effect. You can use the events/tempo editor views to delete any such events

Why does "Test" button not work on instrument dialog ... ?

Currently this only works if you have played the song (even just the first second). We hope to fix this in a later release
